[KLUG Members] ide-scsi with SuSE 8.2, now with some actual hardware questions

sorry about the HTML, I just slipped up... here's what I said (now
properly clean, and elaborated to make everything clearer now that I've
had enough sleep)

I edited /boot/grub/menu.lst with yast.
I just added "hdc=ide-scsi" right before my other burner's
"hdg=ide-scsi", and it works nice!
I then had to make sure that /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrecorder pointed to
their respective drives, /dev/sr1 (my old burner) wasn't being mounted
with /dev/cdrecorder, and /dev/dvd didn't work.

my only prob is that I can't seem to get it to burn faster than 20x when
it's duplicating a cd. (from a drive that can read at 32x, and the
drives are on different controllers.) the hdc is on my mobo's secondary
controller, hdg is on a PCI card controller. Should the two optical
drives be master-slave?
