[KLUG Members] LPI Training -- AV Materials Tangent

I'm willing to volunteer to edit and produce AV materials. I have
professional experience as a audio engineer and non-linear digital video
editor. My degrees are in graphic design and web design, which included
multimedia training. Plus, since I'm only marginally self employed, I have
the free time to do the editing. I have the computer and programs to do the
editing with and a dual layer DVD burner to make the final product with,
but what I don't have is the AV equipment.

I don't have a DV camera myself (and I think we'll need two). Two cameras
are important so you can have one on the presenter, and a second capturing
a scan straight out of the presentation computer. I don't have a wireless
mic, which is REALLY important, actually. If there are people who would
commit to bringing their mini-DV camera to the training sessions, I'd be
happy to handle it from there. I might even buy the wireless mic myself.
They start at $400, which kinda sucks, but having a properly mic'ed
presenter separates the men from the boys* when it comes to the quality of
video productions....

You know, I just thought of something. Since KLUG is a non-profit, and all,
what's stopping us from producing these training segments down at the
Kalamazoo Cable Access or Portage Cable Access? That way we can have access
to the equipment and space needed to tape them, and all it'll cost us (I
think) is being willing to show the finished segments on their channels,
plus tape costs and presentation materials. I know people at PCA, but KCA
is probably better suited.

I'll look into more details. Shout out if you think this is an idea worth
pursuing. Let me know what resources are available to make this happen.
