The one that I can think of that is the closest to this is the Cisco
CCIE. It has a VERY difficult practical component to the exam. That
is why soooooo many fail the first time through (like 80%).
I have always said that the higher level exams like MCSE, CNE, and
such should have a timeframe of working under an existing cert'ed
person for a period of time. When I got my CNE we had something
similar to that. You had to either work in a Novell shop for a year
or take a three day practical test. They dumped that in late 1991
though. Too bad!
