So, folks, it appears that the company who provided us with our hardware
(RLX, www.rlx.com) is going out of the hardware business.
This leaves us, or perhaps more importantly, me, with the task of coming
up with hardware.
We've been using RLX for their dense blade line (800 and 1200 MHz
blades in a 4U chassis) as well as their dense 'performance' line, the
1U servers.
In the past months, they've been upgrading their software to support
more hardware, and lo and behold our recent purchase of RLX hardware has
been not much more than a 1U server with a few managed NICs for
interoperating with their software.
So, since we'll probably be purchasing hardware again soon, I need to
find us a vendor. Preferably a single vendor, preferably a vendor that
has a blade line.
On the plate so far is Dell and IBM; with IBM being edged out because of
price. However, we don't know if Dell has a blade line, or how well
they support linux.
If you have recommendations, please make them. Linux support is a must,
with blade lines being a definate plus. Excellent hardware and support
is always a bonus... (Duh).
