We deal with domains on the Internet all the time, but few really
understand how they are created, or how the whole thing works. It really
helps to understand how all of this works, even if you are not looking
to own your own domain. In this presentation, Bob will wear several
hats. As domain owner, he applies for domain names with a registrar, and
designates a DNS (Domain Name Service) server. As DNS administrator, he
sets up the domain, and learns a few lessons along the way. As network
administrator for his domains, he will show us what he must do to get
servers in the domains to work, and as application developer and user,
he shows us what he must do to use the new domains. We expect this will
be a very informative and entertaining presentation, suitable for the
prospective domain owner or any user of Internet services who wants to
know more about what is really going on.
