That worked the command was:
rpm -Uvh --replacefiles --replacepkgs 
/var/cache/redcarpet/packages/gconf2-2*
then 
rpm -qa | grep ximian | xargs rpm -q --scripts | grep 
'^GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE' > rerun.sh
./rerun.sh

After running this I was able to log in as britz again. I even logged out 
and logged back in to check :)

Yes it is, but generally when you have a problem usually others will have 
the same issue. Now to work on the lack of channels under red carpet :)
