Did you open tcp/1723?  If not the PPTP connection will never enter the
setup phase.  You also need to enable GRE/IP (protocol 47).

It is easier (MUCH MUCH EASIER) to debug a VPN connection with a Linux
client, then when that works try to setup the Win32 box.  The Win32
error messages are less (Read: TOTALLY WORTHLESS) than helpful.  BTW, my
favorite is -619 with means - 'something is wrong'.  Oh yea, baby, just
pointing me toward the light!
