[KLUG Members] hotplug and unloading modules...

I have my Zaurus working on my shiney new Slackware 10.0 install, sort of

On a fresh boot, an lsmod does NOT show the CDCEther and acm modules loaded.
When I plug in the Zaurus, I get the following in /etc/messages:

kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-2, assigned address 2
kernel: usb.c: registered new driver acm
kernel: acm.c: v0.21:USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN
adapters
kernel: usb.c: registered new driver CDCEther
kernel: CDCEther.c: eth1: Sharp SL Series
kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usbnet
logger: /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1: /sbin/iwconfig eth1 nick timg
logger: /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1: /sbin/iwconfig eth1 essid any
kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:1f.2-2 address 2
kernel: usb.c: deregistering driver CDCEther
kernel: usb.c: deregistering driver acm

And I don't have connectivity to the Zaurus.
The hotplug is SUPPOSED to configure the Z as usb0. So I 'rmmod CDCEther acm'
and plug the Z back in. I get:

kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-2, assigned address 3
kernel: usb0: register usbnet usb-00:1f.2-2, Sharp Zaurus SL-5x00
kernel: usb.c: registered new driver acm
kernel: acm.c: v0.21:USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN
adapters
kernel: usb.c: registered new driver CDCEther

And voila, the I can communicate with the Z and everything is joyous. At
least until I unplug/replug the Zaurus into it's cradle... at which point it
re-recognized and configures the Zaurus as eth1 and I have to repeate the
unplug, rmmod, replug process for it to work.

Is anyone familiar enough with either hotplug or Zaurii to assist me with this
ugliness?

FYI: I'm running kernel 2.4.26, which is "stock" on Slackware 10.0.

TIA.
