Ok, I have a working X on my debian laptop and now I am running into some
things I am hoping I can get some help with.
First, I am using Debian unstable with the 2.6.5 kernel.
1) I tried to install Evolution, but no go. Anyone had any luck with
unstable and evo? I get the below error and I started down the path trying
to get it to go, but gave up after a few more dependencies down the list.
Does anyone know the trick or should i just wait for this to get resolved.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
evolution: Depends: gtkhtml3.0 (>= 3.0.10) but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libgal2.0-6 (>= 1.99.11) but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libgnomeprint2.2-0 (>= 2.4.2) but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libgnomeprintui2.2-0 (>= 2.4.2) but it is not going to
be installed
Depends: libgtkhtml3.0-4 (>= 3.0.10) but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libsoup2.0-0 (>= 1.99.26) but it is not installable
Depends: libgal2.0-common (>= 1.99.11) but it is not going to be
installed
E: Broken packages
2) I have firefox up and running, but the themes won't work for some reason.
The back and forward buttons will change a bit, but the icons and such of
the theme just don't want to work. I selected the link from the site to
download and use and then restarted firefox to no avail. Do the themes just
not work like in Windows?
3) I am looking at trying out the ipw2100 for getting the wireless working
on this thinkpad. I have already gotten stuck checking to see if
CONFIG_NET_RADIO is on in the kernel. I used the 2.6.5 kernel package and
the instructions for checking are to look in autoconf.h, but that file does
not exist. Has anyone tried this out and gotten it to work? Is the
ndiswrapper a better option at this point?
Thanks for the help.
