[KLUG Members] sporadic mouse under X

This is a weird one.

I have a few workstations plugged into a Belkin KVM switch.
Sometimes when I change computers, but mostly after a power glitch, my
mouse goes crazy. When I move my mouse the pointer will move sporadicly
combined with random mouse clicks.
Under Redhat Linux 9.0 I was able to ctrl-alt-F1 to get to a text shell
and then ctrl-alt-F7 to get back to X and everything would be back to
normal.
I'm now trying out Suse 9.0 and 9.1 and I've noticed that trick no
longer works. I've even tried ctrl-alt-backspace to restart X and it
doesn't help.

I'm using KDE.

Does anyone have a clue what might be happening and does anyone know of
a text command to reset the mouse driver perhaps?
