Here is an update on my continuing Fedora 2 saga:

I DID buy a new hard disk and made a fresh RH9 os on it. After much work, I was
able to get a dual
booting system with RH9 and Fedora, each on a separate hard drive. The Fedora
actually mounts normally.
Mind you, I still haven't figured out how to get Xwindows up. I've tried many
routes.

The advantage of the new system is that I can bring into the RH9 system any
file I need that had been locked up on the Fedora installation disk.

Any pointers on how to get xwindows up? With that, Fedora may be barely
tolerable.

Ralph

PS interesting problem: When trying to use ssh to read my mail directly on my
mail host server without downloading it, which I've used regularly in the past,
I am not able to use pine on said server; error msg:
unrecognized terminal type: "linux". Didn't know pine recognized different
termal 'types'.
