DON'T HI-JACK OTHER PEOPLE'S THREADS.  START A NEW THREAD WITH "NEW
MESSAGE" (or your MUA's equivalent).  DO NOT REPLY AND CHANGE THE
SUBJECT LINE;  THIS SCREWS UP THE THREADING IN REAL MAIL CLIENTS.

By default MySQL only accepts connections on localhost.  Use netstat to
see if mysql is listening for IP connections on 1709.
