Yesterday I was trying to play the Hitchhikers Guide movie trailer at
movies.yahoo.com on my SuSE 9.2 laptop (fresh install).

I tried installing every package I could find on the SuSE 9.2 DVD that
might help, but I couldn't get the WMV stream to play.

Then I went here:  http://www.linux-administrator.com/rpm/index.php
And downloaded and installed the following RPM's (built for SuSE 9.2!):

  MPlayer-1.0pre5-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  divx4linux-20030428-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  faad2-2.0-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  faad2-xmms-plugin-2.0-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  lame-3.96-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  libdvdcss2-1.2.8-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  mplayerplug-in-2.70-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  w32codec-20040916-1_suse92.i586.rpm
  xvid-1.0.2-1_suse92.i586.rpm

Restarted Firefox, and the Hitchhikers Guide movie trailer now plays
fine as embedded plugin right in the browser window!!!   :-)

Note:  If you have the "plugger" RPM installed from SuSE 9.2, you must
remove it.  It doesn't install by default, but I installed it prior to
mplayer while trying to get the movie file to play.

Much less "torturous" than previous experiences.  :-)
