Of the top of my head

1.) Socket IP printing support in LPRng is rather crude,  move to CUPS
if possible, it handles this much more gracefully.

2.) Perhaps you can print via the NCR machine.  Having more than one box
bouncing connections of a socket based print device has caused by
headaches in the past, you get contention, and many servers don't handle
that very well.

Sounds normal for this type of device.  You should be able to use
something like netcat to toss data at it and see it print.  Socket
printing is REALLY dump - (1) Open Socket (2) toss in data (3) close
socket.

No surprise there, these things may have a very rudimentary ICMP, etc...
implementation.

Thats entirely normal.  Someone else is connected to the socket,  device
may not support more than one concurrent connection.
