[KLUG Members] cd writing

I am not a good enough programmer for doing something like that at
this time. I wish I was. I mainly have experience in network
administration and systems support. I have limited software
programming experience. Sorry... I would love to... I would love to
even be able to do some of the same in free software for Windows for
things like backups too. Don't know where to go to learn that type
of stuff. Most classes I have seen seem to revolve around database
programming and not really get into things like writing backup
programs. I have not even known very many programmers that have been
able to do that type of stuff.

I had to look high and low once to find a programmer that could help
me write a program that would run through a directory recursively and
add up the file sizes (it was dos/windows on a Novell server with
"huge" amount of storage and so I did not have a good way of doing it
with the OS tools) so that I could know how to allocate space on a
new system. There was one programmer at Kellogg out of like 20 that
had any sort of clue how to interact with the OS.

If anyone knows of somewhere to get some good training on programming
that type of stuff (escpecially cheap training) I would be very
greatful! I would love to be able to put out some free and/or
opensource Windows software (don't cringe too much over that) for a
number of things that I think companies charge way more than they
should!
