The nice thing about cd and dvd drives is a drive is a drive is a
drive. It makes it really nice to go from system to system. And as
optical storage increases in capacity that will get to be even more
of an option. I have recently started doing my own consulting
business for small businesses and most of them only have like <4GB of
data that needs to be backed up, often even <600MB so CD and DVD
solutions really make a lot of sense. The drives are cheaper and the
media is WAY cheaper. When dual layer DVD comes down in price then
you will be able to do like 9GB of backup and with compression then
as much as possibly 18GB. For many small businesses that would just
rock.
