Well, if it is, it's not on the CDs I got from you, and
according /etc/SuSE-config, this is version 9.2.

As it happens, I did manage to find a 9.2 package at Guru's RPM Site:
http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=Office/inkscape/

Unfortunately, neither the 0.42 nor the 0.41 releases for 9.2 would
build because of all the dependencies, however, I was able to save
myself the trip through that labyrinth when I finally remembered the
package I'd successfully installed on the laptop. As luck would have it,
that one installed on this machine without a peep, and this time, it
actually runs. Not without complaint; it puts up an alert about some
extensions that failed to load. Given what it took just to find a
package that works, though, I think I'll manage without them.

I think Inkscape has awhile to go yet before it's any challenge to
OpenOffice Draw, never mind CorelDraw or Illustrator. No matter how good
it is drawing-wise, it's just too much trouble get going.
