[KLUG Members] Dual Core systems and Linux

I have been an AMD fan ever since the Athlon line came out.. We recently
converted my entire company to AMD 64 machines because we found with our
main application when running processes on a high end Intel System took
almost 2 hours to run.. on the comparable AMD 64 processor it took 2 minutes
to run.

Well according to the tracking it will be here around noon today so this
weekend will be build/testing time though it will be dual boot since some of
the 3D apps I have don't run in Linux very well.

i don't have any advice to give you but i'm totally interested in the
performance of the thing when
you get it built. keep us posted.

i just got into a big argument with my brother-in-law who works for intel.
we were having a debate
on the merits of amd and intel processors. i told him that i had been an
intel fan for like 20 years
and only in the last 2-3 years have been really turned on by amd. as a
matter a fact, i don't see
myself buying anything intel for a long time. nothing against intel, i just
feel that amd is finally
stepping up to the plate. i have a few amd systems here at work and at home.
the performance is
either just as good or faster in some cases. i am very pleased with my amd
stuff. anyway, back to my
brother-in-law. they must brainwash those purdue/intel guys because he got
furious with me that i
would even use anything by amd. he claims that they are soooo inferior.
maybe so, i just haven't
seen it though...
