[KLUG Members] spamassisin

I'd like to experiment with spamassasin on my suse 10 box. The rpm was
already installed so I thought this may be a relatively easy task. If I
understand it correctly, it is anything but easy.

Currently fetchmail -> sendmail -> cyrus.

Greylisting is out of the question with fetchmail which is why I wanted
to try spamassasin.

Spamassasin is a daemon which waits on a tcp or unix socket for a spam
client. The client can be spamc or spamass-milter working with sendmail
or some other possibilities. Other possible clients can be the mail
client agent itself like kmail I believe is capable.

spamass-milter requires libmilter. Libmilter is not an rpm. libmilter
comes with sendmail and the sendmail on suse 10 does not have the
libmilter with sendmail. (why not??)

Sendmail will have to be recompiled. The source rpms from suse are at
which url. Not found at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0 .

Can anyone tell me if my thinking is off??
