[KLUG Members] Question On Linux Friendly laptop

I've always bought IBM Thinkpad laptops.

As far as reliability, I never recommend any other brand of laptop. The
two greatest hardware devices I've ever seen are HP Laserjets (the ones
that look like a big box, the II, the III, the 4, etc.) and IBM
Thinkpads. They both seem to last forever. I've never used any other
laptop that seemed as well built as a Thinkpad. I even got sued over
this issue once. Doesn't matter, as far as I'm concerned, I've never
seen anything as good as a Thinkpad, nor can I recommend anything else
as good.

As far as Linux compatibility, I have limited experience. But, I've
brought the T-40 (centrino, 802.11b) to KLUG several times, booted
flawlessly off of a KNOPPIX CD and it all just worked. It found the
built-in wireless and gave me instant access to the wireless network
there. All the programs I tried worked.

kind regards,

bill
