I'm trying to upgrade the Mandrake install on my Sony VAIO PCG-SRX77. Right
now I cannot access the old install because the reinstall of XP messed up
GRUB. So I'm trying to figure out how to save the Home documents. I tried
using KNOPPIX but it wouldn't work. My CD-ROM drive works off a PCMCIA card.
I get this screen (after the computer has obviously accessed the CD to some
extent):

     Welcome to KNOPPIX live Linux-on-CD!

     Scanning for USB/Firewire devices . . . Done
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hda [HITACHI_DK23CA-20]
     Can't fine KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
     Press reset button to quit

     Additional buildin commands available:
         cat mount umount
         insmod rmmod lsmod

     KNOPPIX#_

I already tried an upgrade with the new Mandrake 10.1 disks but the process
hungup when I inserted the second install disk. I was hoping maybe that
wouldn't happen with a clean install.
