I haven't used it for a long time, but the Mozilla package has a fairly
decent GUI news reader.  (the full Mozilla package, not Firefox)

There are also some curses based command line news readers, which are
faster but have a longer learning curve as you need to remember what
keys do what.  "tin" was the one I used to use, back when I read usenet.

Yes, it's easier, plus you google allows you to search (imagine that! :)
the archives, if you are looking for something specific.
