[KLUG Members] rejected mail

I replied to an email from my sister using the standard Evolution
(2.0.3) reply function. Just a few lines of plain english, and I got a
"Failure Notice" from her(?) mail daemon at an smtp address (twice):

    "The user does not accept email in non-Western (non-Latin) character
sets."

To my knowledge I'm not using any such charater set. (My chosen
character set is 
    Western European (ISO-8859-1).)

Any ideas what would cause this?
