bill,

you need to go into the linux account that you are trying to log into and change the xstartup
script. change "xdm" to "startkde". if you have a user named "bill" then you can find it in
/home/bill/.vnc/xstartup.

to restart the vncserver (without rebooting) do a cntl+esc, find vnc and kill it. go to
/tmp/X11-unix/ and delete "X1". go into a terminal and type: vncserver (optionally you can type
"vncserver -geometry 1024x768" if you want to tell it what size you want on the client). now go to
your windows box and start your client. you should get a kde gui now.
