Greetings

During the process of implementing logon scripts for windows machines, I
discovered sort of an odd difference between XP and 2K. The net use
command behaves a bit different. I had decided to use mapped network
drives pointing to links which are of course shares underneath a DFS
( Microsoft Distributed File System ) root share. Kind of kewl and
works for W2K. It however does not work on XP.

NET USE W: \\SERVER\dfsrootshare\linkedshare

XP requires that the net use command be used directly to the share level
so a command like

NET USE W: \\SERVER\SHARE

works just fine.

So here is my question. Did M$ break this on purpose for XP from 2K.
Also is there some sort of command that would create a my network place
similar to a net use that could point to folders underneath a share??

Dirk
