Does "cat /proc/cpuinfo" show 1 or 2 CPU's?  Anything interesting?

Is there any SMP settings in your BIOS?  Sometimes you can set 
the SMP version and/or turn off the 2nd CPU in the BIOS.

Otherwise, try flashing your BIOS to the latest version.  
I've had to do that before on some older SMP boxes.
