I don't know.  There are still a lot of the old-style flatbed scanners
available (new).

Probably, but that's not what I'm looking for, so I didn't investigate.

Maybe, but I really don't want an all-in-one unit.

I have a really old HP that works great, but it has a SCSI interface.
And since my desk space is limited, and I don't use the scanner every
day, it'd be nice to bring out the scanner only when I need it.

A SCSI scanner does not fit that bill since SCSI is NOT hot-plug'able.
(I have to completely shut down my computer to plug/unplug it)

BTW, I finally found one new scanner that is fully supported by Linux,
but it's selling for almost $500.  I was hoping to find something in the
$100 range ...  (and I was hoping to avoid ebay)
