Yep.

The session manager listens on a domain socket that the application
learns about from the environment:
awilliam at aleph:~> env | grep ICE
SESSION_MANAGER=local/aleph:/tmp/.ICE-unix/8356
awilliam at aleph:~> ls -l /tmp/.ICE-unix/8356
srwxrwxrwx  1 awilliam users 0 2005-09-20 12:23 /tmp/.ICE-unix/8356

When you su this variable is probably lost.
