[KLUG Members] Change PATH

1.  OO.o installed in /opt.  I want to change my PATH environment
variable. I tried this:

 export PATH=$PATH:/opt/openoffice.org2.0/program

but it didn't do it.

What's the correct command?

2.  How do I add the OO programs to my GNOME popup menu (I think if I
get it there I can add it to my Panel, tho I can't seem to find any set
of OO icons to use).
