[KLUG Members] win98 to kubuntu to win98

this is a compaq armada 100s amd k6-2, 533mhz, with 192mb ram. i got kubuntu installed on it but it
was soooo flaky that i re-formatted. i kept getting weird boot-up errors. i eventually got into the
gui login. breezy was very fast by the way. but a crappy install left me paranoid. i got about
80-90% into a win2000 install before it hung up 3 times in various spots. at that point i was sooo
frustrated that i fell back onto win98se because that's what was stamped on the thing in the first
place.

i have to agree at this stage. i think i have some hardware related issues. i have win98se fully
installed but no usb and pcmcia work at all. it's really too bad because it's a nice little laptop
(except for it's age). i like to fiddle with older machines but all i have been doing with this one
is swearing at it. not really interested in dropping money on the thing until i find the problem. so
at this point it may just collect some dust for a while.
