I use cygwin for most of my stuff here.  It does puke out on some of the
fancier G libs and such, but most of what I need here are things like xemacs,
xterm, and simple window manager tools and it has no problem with those.  And
the cygwin project is still open source.

I've also used combinations of everything form Xmanager to hummingbird's Xceed
- the first being shareware and the second is generally store bought.
