Yea well, Grub says it has compatibility issues with XFS... Not looking to put
a man on the moon with the boot loader alone... just boot the OS! lilo can do
that much pretty good.

K, guess I change the standard again and sneak a /boot partition back in.
Annoying!

So then it is an XFS thing that the boot block can't go on a partition
formatted with it?
