Happy New Year everybody! Since it is only about 48 hours old hopefully
nothing horrendous has happened yet (not counting all the horrendous
events of previous years that have managed to carry over....). A
shout-out to all my fellow pessimists on this list: don't worry, there
is still plenty of opportunity to have our world-view validated in 2006,
I'm extremely confident.

But to the task at hand.... have you seen the 2006 schedule page?

http://www.kalamazoolinux.org/meetings/schedule.php3

Look at all those "Date Available" entries! Will we be able to fill ALL
THOSE DATES? Man, I just don't know. I suppose it all depends on
*YOU*? Not that I want you to feel any *PRESSURE* just because the
viability of your local users group and, indeed, the entire Open Source
movement rests in *YOUR* hands. If you just don't care enough about
either your fellow users or the dominance of proprietary systems in IT
to take a hand full of *HOURS* out of your entire *YEAR* to prepare and
present a topic to the group then I don't know what to say - KLUG and
Open Source is doomed. But maybe, just maybe, you do care. And your
going to send an e-mail to programdirector at kalamazoolinux.org saying
"I'll present, put me on the calendar". Then maybe it really will be a
great 2006.

Come on, I know there are meliorismists and even a few optimists on this
list, this is a chance to prove me wrong. And what feeling is better
than saying to someone: "I told you so!". Everyone enjoys that.
