Actually XP pro does not require that for SATA on most systems.. Only if you
want RAID enabled. If you only have 1 disk and don't care for RAID it will
install to an SATA drive without any extra drivers ( atleast that is what
happened on my system )

Is this an XP box?
As I recall, when XP installs, there's a prompt for special steps to install
RAID and SATA drivers. So maybe the OS rather than the BIOS recognizes SATA?
If so, part or all of XP might need to be reinstalled?
