If I had to wager a guess, it would be that the irq's were switched during the o/s change. Try powering down completely and see if you can get it to work in your Windows system. I would almost disable plug and play aware in the bios just to be on the safe side. I know there is supposed to be support for plug and play aware bios in some distros, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Subject: [KLUG Members] Winmodems and Linux
Greetings KLUGgers.
I was delighted to see that the 4th of July party is on. Only down side is that I won't make it, as I will be packing all day.
Here's the question of the day: I know that Linux doesn't like/work with Win modems. Does it also kill them? When I boot my Windows partition and try to use my modem, it says it is disconnected (I think that's the word it used). I've tried re-installing it, to no avail.
Could Linux have caused this?
Is there a way to fix it?
(My new domicile will be without broadband for several days yet and I would love to be able to use dial-up rather than have to drive to Panera.)
EB
