[KLUG Members] SendMail (?) issue

I'm having an issue either with my sendmail server or an outside issue
with someone's FIrebox firewall.  Whenever we send or try to receive
email from this site (they use MS Exchange), I get an error in my
logfile:
"k2Q9FebZ014205: mail.abcde.com [64.141.128.42] did not issue
MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA."
Checking with their admin, he says that they did a firmware update to
their firebox, closing off an IDENT port that Sendmail supposedly
requires.  He says that Firebox says opening this port is a security
risk, so is hesitant to do so.
Anyone know anything about this?  Any ideas?
