sounds like a plan. so I think I will download suse tonight, and dual boot windows and suse. Samba I have always had a problem with in the past, but with the amount of how-to's out there I should be able to figure it out. You think VMware will allow me to run visual studio? Going to be fun, got an early xmas gift from my fiancé, 20.1in Dell widescreen lcd. Ohh am I excited. thanks guys once again, i'll let you know how suse goes, if I have a problem, would it be much to drag my case into the meeting on Tuesday?

Here's a tip. I have opensuse 10.1 installed on my main desktop at home. it also doubles as my
workstation. this is a dual-boot machine. i have winxp installed on my firs hard drive. on it i use
suse 99% of the time. my wife also uses linux 90% of the time. there is are a couple applications
that she uses that do not work in linux (nor is there a suitable alternative). she does not like to
re-boot back and forth into windows and linux, especially just for one application. so i installed
vmware server on suse and made a windows xp image. now she can boot the image an run windows right
on top of suse without ever re-booting the machine. just one click of a hot key and she back and
forth in windows and linux. this works really well and it's really stable. perhaps this is a
solution for the times that you want linux all the time but need windows to run that special app.

save your gaming for real windows and us virtual windows for your productivity apps.

btw, i use samba in virtual windows to share files between my host suse and my guest windows. gotta
love samba.
