Don,
	Look here <http://help.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=65> for access
numbers for ATT. I use Kinternet to connect to the internet which
supports dialup. You will have to configure/add your modem through Yast.
A little trial and error will probabbly be called for. Start Yast then
go to 'network connections' 'modem'. Once you're there your modem might
have allready been detected in which case you will have to 'edit' it. If
not click 'add'. You'll need your modem specs and the initialization
string, if any. Pay attention to the left hand side of Yast as you work
through the setup, it will give you hints on what to do and not. That's
basically it, some of the more experinced guys will have to help you
with the specifics. I tried to get it working; because I have that as
well; but I was unsuccessful. I have my own problems with SUSE :-(. Try
the forum <http://www.suseforums.net>, and
<http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org> for more help. I
wouldn't waste my time at Novell, I have found them to be much less than
helpful and difficult to search. Most anything you will need you can
find at these two sites and here. You will most likely find forums
dedicated to running linux on your particular brand on the internet.
Some examples are:
<http://forum.thinkpads.com/index.php>
<http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkWiki>
And your manufacturer may have pages buried on their website such as:
<http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=ibm&lndocid=MIGR-51424>
You'll want to let us know what version of SUSE you're running on what
platform with what modem.

Regards,
