IR devices are set up in linux as ttys#. Most notebooks share them on COM 1 (ttyS0 *zero*). With udev they use symlinks usually /dev/pilot.

Believe me I'm looking very hard at that. Suspend to ram appears to
work with minimal intervention as well. It does not appear that either
dapper or breezy offer support for IR though, bummer. I've been playing
around with the live cd. Very nice. The selection for that laptop has
been pretty much decided.
I'm just being stubborn with my SUSE. It's worked before so it might
work again. I've looked at <http://suspend2.net/> as well, but I don't
think that will help either. Somethings just not quite right and I just
haven't looked in the right place. I have the latest kernel which is
supposed to offer ACPI support.
