Yes, it does, but unfortunately the backup of it's database was on the volume group that
does not exist anymore, so I'm told.

I'm doing a ddrescue of the disk, so that I can later perform a deeper analysis in the future.
testdisk does not seem to be able to find anything other than an empty physical volume and the boot
partition.  Perhaps you know of some tools that can do deeper searching?
