  It's needed on my comcast@home cable connection... which is why I
  brought it up.  Without that, I don't get a response from their DHCP
  server.

  It appears that they reference the Nic's MAC, hostname and Cable modem
  address each time I try to hit thier DHCP server, because if any one
  of those changes, no DHCP responses are returned.

  Mind you, I haven't had a spare cable-modem to test that part of the
  equation yet... that's unconfirmed 3rd-hand info.

  YMMV, that's just the way it's set up here (Metro Detroit).
