Or see if you can get by using a binary of 2.2.1a.  I'm still using that
on my PDC and print server,  and 2.2.3a on my file server.  2.2.1a is
one of those legendary versions every project occasionally spits out, 
and then gets frustrated when none of their users upgrade to subsequent
releases.

Darn that looks OK.  Does it behave the same under 9x and NT/Y2k/XP? 
Try setting "map to guest = Bad Password" in your global stanza.
