MySQL won't work on my fresh install of RedHat 7.1 (the sad thing is
that my Windows box runs apache, MySQL and PHP without problems)
I get ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
The file is there. What's up? Does it have to be listed in xinetd or
something?
I also cannot get Xwindows up. It's the same problem I have had with
several other machines that use AGP video cards. I used Caldera 3.1 to
run Xwindows/Linux on these machines. I would like to put RedHat on
them, so I don't have to mess around with RPM issues. (during setup the
Xtest was fine, it detected the cards chipset correctly...)
The Xwindows error is this:
Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb'
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a
(II) Module bitmap: vendor="The Xfree86 Project"
compiled for 4.0.3, module version = 1.0.0
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module pcidata
(EE) Failed to load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0)
Fatal server error:
Unable to load required base modules, Exiting...
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
...
TIA
