   REPLACE THE DRIVE!

   I just had to yank one several weeks ago for the SAME problem. If you got
'458' error codes, BELIEVE it.... The drive APPEARS to be fine, but it
really isn't.... It's a barrel of problems just waiting to happen.

   Also, I have now officially quit using Maxtor AND Western Digital
drives.... I've found very good luck with Fujitsu drives.. Others say
Quantum and IBM are good.

   Just a thought or two...
