PHP:

- is open source.
- is widely and well supported by real world users.
- is fairly easy to learn.
- is available on just about any platform (even NetWare!).
- is FREE.

ASP:

- is proprietary.
- is supported both commercially and by users.
- is very platform dependant.
- is steeper on the learning curve (IMO).
- is NOT free.

I thought I read an article recently that stated very
matter of factly that there are more deployments of PHP
than ASP, but a quick search for that article yields
nothing.

How about a little peer pressure: you'll be cool if you use
PHP. :)

Just my $.02.

What are the advantages of using PHP over ASP?

P.S.
By the way, I changed emails. I used to be subscribed as
rdillenbu@yahoo.
I moved it to my mail server klug@russell.knightec.net.
 Hopefully I have
my mail server set up right. Yahoo only has that 6mb
limit.
