Just who do you think maintains most of Gnome? ;-P

Just because Ximian's "release" Gnome doesn't mean they don't have a 2.0 already
out. They are just still labelling it a "Developer's Release," because many
components have still not moved their codebase to 2.0.

RedHat just decided to go ahead and move to Gnome 2.0, despite things missing
and/or incomplete. It's not a bad move for a .0 RedHat release.

Again ... Ximian _Release_ is 1.4. Ximian _Developer_ is 2.0.

That's because RedHat controls all the packages, and RedHat finally got its "act
together" and properly addressed the desktop IMHO.

Ximian only "bundles" their packages for RedHat 6.x/7.x, so they could only work
with what they had. Now that RedHat 8.0 is out, Ximian for RedHat 8.0 will
probably be improved as well.

Ahhh, now you're getting it. ;-P

Ximian has released several "updates" to their Developer versions.

Open/StarOffice doesn't use GTK+/Gnome, so you should have 0 issues.
