I have tried using the generice lcd selection and then choosing the
1024x768 selection. that did not work went to toshiba and 1024x768 with
lowest refresh rate and that did not work. Is there a way to tell what
kind of monitor I have and see if that is listed under the toshiba
selection?

I did do that (remembered how to set the mouse from your previous help) so
it is listed there. The funny thing is I can not see the mouse but it is
there, because if I move it around and click stuff appears and so on.
