I decided to see what all the hype is about gentoo, so I downloaded the
i686 CD's yesterday.  (supports PPro & above Intel CPU's & AMD Athlon)
There are higher and lower optimized pre-compiled CD's available for
download (P3, P4, Athlon-XP, i486) but I chose the i686 so I could try
it on both an Athlon and a P4.

I also downloaded the "basic" CD which installs over the internet.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, so I can't give you a "review",
but I can make CD's for anyone who wishes to try it for themselves.

The i686 version is a 2 CD set.  The "basic" CD is a single CD.
