the packages and did not get any response other than a return to the command
prompt. Does this mean they're all OK?

Mathew: there's no file called "OpenOffice.org1.1" or such. There's an
".openoffice" directory, but no such file in that directory either. (I don't
see one for "newuser" either.)

If I identify the right config file for "newuser" could I then edit the
corresponding file for "ericb" to conform? Can someone tell me which file
that would be?
