you know, i've always made a big effort to use an app that i can use in both windows and linux. for
instance, firefox, mozilla, thunderbird, gimp, nvu, ect. recently, i started using scribus. i really
like it. however, scribus won't be ported to windows for a long time. just mac and linux for now. at
work we started using adobe's indesign for catalog stuff. i really like it so far. it's a little
more powerful than scribus. but it doesn't run in linux. my point is, i feel for the original poster
of this thread. it is not always easy to find great alternatives and/or cross platform apps. and
sometimes when you do find one you have to get used to a loss of features because you chose
something that wasn't as good as something else on the market.
